Types Of Plans

There are just as many travel health insurance plans out there as there are insurance companies. Each has it’s own benefit and may not be suitable for you. It is your duty to do some research and figure out what it is you actually need.

First take a look at a single trip plan. If you are planning on traveling once or twice a year and know the details of your trip, this plan is ideal for you. If you are a snowbird heading south for the winter, be sure to check this plan out as it may fit right into your budget. It provides coverage for only one select trip and the coverage begins and ends on certain dates. If you choose to, you can plan more then one trip but you must go through the initial stages of applying for this type of plan, coverage will not carry over on different trips. You basically start the insuring process all over again for each trip you plan to go on.

Are you planning on taking several trips out of the country over the course of a year? Check out an annual or multi-trip plan that enables you to take as many trips as you want in a year. Usually each trip has a certain amount of days in which you are guaranteed coverage but it’s great for you spur of the moment people who decide a vacation is needed. You don’t have to go through the process of renewing or applying for insurance every time you plan on traveling. Consider having your plan adjusted by your agent if you decide you want extra coverage or most importantly if you become ill or hospitalized during a time of traveling as this may be considered a pre-existing medical condition under your coverage for your next set of travels.

Using employee, pension, or group plans? Be sure to do an in depth analysis on these plans in regards to the coverage offered. The truth behind your travel insurance is usually in the fine print of these plans. An ideal way to take advantage of these types of plans is to use them as basic coverage’s and then design a plan suitable for you and purchase additional insurance from commercial agencies. But be aware as it easy to find yourself in conflicts with different insurers.
